St Laurence, Church Stretton
- Children's and Young People's Worship
St Laurence's welcomes
everyone into the church family gathering together
each Sunday or in midweek activities. Please do come
and find out how best suits your family to worship,
and feed back to us any comments. Moriel Gidney, the
Family and Children's Worker welcomes any feedback
on
morielgidney@hotmail.co.uk
Moriel is a qualified teacher who has run a local
Day Nursery for the past twelve years. She has three
grown up children of her own and has been a
Christian for over 35 years, working with children
throughout, both voluntarily and as a teacher.
Our present arrangements are:
1st Sunday of each month - All Age worship enabling
the whole family to worship together.
5th Sundays (four or so a year) 10.30 service all
together followed by lunch.
All other Sundays, the children start off in the
church and go to their own group in the Parish
Centre after
about fifteen minutes.
The preschool and primary school aged children are
cared for and taught by a team including four people
with child care or teaching qualifications and
experience. All people involved hold up to date CRB
clearance and teamwork ensures that no-one is ever
on their own with children inappropriately. Please
do ask Moriel if you have any concerns or questions.
There is a crèche which operates for under three
year olds over in the Parish Centre as the children
leave for their groups. Parents can liaise with the
people on duty there, either taking their little
ones over, or keeping them in church and maybe going
over as the need arises, or just keeping them in
church. With today's lifestyle where so many parents
spend a long time away from their children during
the week, you are encouraged to choose whatever
pattern suits you on Sundays and we aim to work with
you to provide the best for everyone.
Moriel is involved in the school and an enthusiastic
team of people go in to do Open the Book Assemblies
where they act out Bible stories to a delighted
assembly of children. Midweek clubs also operate at
the Primary school:
Jam - Key Stage 1 club 3.15-4.20
3:16- Key Stage 2 club 3.16-4.30
Both clubs use Godly Play which is a gentle, open
ended exploration of Bible stories with the
opportunity to respond in different ways. Two of the
people involved have been on an intensive course
which they thoroughly enjoyed and wanted to share.
Richard Hill (rector) or Moriel Gidney are happy to
talk with parents about any of the provision or
wider issues. |
